Steyn City GC

Steyn City Golf Course is one of the most ambitious and inspirational developments in South African golf history. The golf course at Steyn City will consist of landscaped parklands, 18 championship holes designed by Jack Nicklaus. At full stretch, the course is estimated to be a whopping 7 100 metres long making it a no pushover from the tips and undoubtedly South Africa's longest golf course.

It is situated in the greater Johannesburg area to the north and borders the Dainfern Estate, east of Chartwell North and west of William Nicol Drive between William Nicol Drive and Cedar Road.

The layout of Steyn City Golf Course is typically J. Nicklaus, bearing all the trademarks of wide fairways, large greens and a total of 74 fox holes. It will be designed to be user friendly. Another unique feature of Steyn City GC will be the double-sided driving range, with chipping and putting areas and multi-target greens to practice on.

Steyn City Golf Course is owned by insurance kingpin Douw Steyn. Mr Steyn, also owns the ultra-luxurious Saxon guest house in Johannesburg and is the founder of Auto & General Insurance.

Although the edifice of Johannesburg's Steyn City is at an advanced stage the luxurious Steyn City Golf Course is due to be officially opened in early 2015. With a spending budget of biblical proportions of well over 6 billion Rands the project is already the big and hottest talk in Gauteng.
