On Sunday Korea’s Bae Sang-moon won his first-ever PGA Tour event at the Byron Nelson Championship, hosted by TPC Las Colinas. As part of the well-known Four Seasons Resort, this championship course has lots to offer serious weekend golfers and makes for an excellent family getaway. This week’s course review looks at the history, layout, and challenging holes at this iconic Texas golf course.
A few miles from the fast-paced life of Dallas, TPC Las Colinas is located near the town of Irving and forms part of the top-rated Four Seasons Resort. The course was designed by Jay Morrish, who worked closely with golfing legends Byron Nelson and Ben Crenshaw to achieve a layout that is challenging but thoroughly enjoyable to play. Nine of the course’s eighteen holes were taken from the original Las Colinas Sports Club to retain a sense of tradition. In 2008 the course underwent a total re-design, providing a golfing facility with a great legacy that doesn’t show its age.
Las Colinas maintains its reputation as the premier championship course in Texas, providing a challenging round of golf in a scenic parkland setting. With reliable weather most of the year, the course attracts pros and amateurs alike. Here are some of the signature holes at Las Colinas:
The course is open to guests of the Four Seasons resort, except during tournaments. For more information, golfers can visit the resort’s website.
