In the United States a victorious Tiger Woods regained his world number one status after winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

As stormy weather delayed play, forcing the tournament to be completed on Monday, Woods cut an imposing figure on the Bay Hill course as he carded a comfortable two-under-par 70 for the final round. Despite some competition from the UK's Justin Rose, Woods sailed to a two-stroke victory to lift the trophy at his 77th PGA Tour event.

With two birdies early in the final round, Woods established a good rhythm on the course and set his sights on victory. An errant tee shot at the eighth hole resulted in Woods' only bogey of the day, which he quickly remedied with two more birdies on the back nine to secure his victory.

Tiger Woods returns to the top of the world rankings for the 11th time in his career, following a difficult period of 29 months in his personal and professional life. Proving his critics wrong and sending a clear warning to his competitors ahead of the US Masters, Woods has proven that he is back in the game.

The European Tour travelled to Southeast Asia last week for the Maybank Malaysia Open which was won by Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat.

As the final round commenced on Sunday, Kiradech was neck and neck with some of the top-ranked players on the European Tour. Despite stiff competition from South Africa's Charl Schwartzel, Britain's Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington, Kiradech held his nerve to card a two-under par 70 and won his maiden title on the Tour.

Kiradech, who lead the tournament from round one, was elated as he lifted the trophy at his first European Tour event on Sunday. Edoardo Molinari of Italy came in second place, with Anders Hansen of Denmark finishing third.
