PGA Tour: Scott Stallings wins the Farmers Insurance Open

On the PGA Tour, local favourite Scott Stallings won the Farmers Insurance Open on Sunday. The final round was too close to call - up until the very last hole. A large pack of players -  including Stallings, South Korea's KJ Choi, and the Australians Jason Day and Marc Leishman - were tied for the lead over the back nine.

Adding to the immense pressure on Sunday were the likes of Charley Hoffman, Ryo Ishikawa, and Trevor Immelman, who were vying for a share of the lead from their shared second place position. Despite these final-round challenges, Stallings weathered the storm and emerged victorious.

Eleventh-hour, eighteenth-hole breakaway for Stallings

After erasing a three-stroke overnight deficit and joining his competitors at the top of the leader board, Stallings carded six birdies from the seventh hole onward to set up the conditions for victory. However, it was only at the final hole that his win was assured - with a birdie at the eighteenth, the 28-year-old lifted the trophy for the third time at a PGA Tour event.

European Tour: Garcia wins Qatar playoff

The European Tour continued its Middle Eastern leg last week, with Spain's Sergio Garcia winning the co-sanctioned Qatar Masters in a playoff against Finland's Mikko Ilonen.

As the final round came to an end, the two players found themselves tied at 272, or 16-under-par for the tournament. When neither player could better his score at the eighteenth green, a playoff ensued. It took three extra holes at the eighteenth for Garcia to emerge victorious, with a birdie that bettered the Finn's par by a single stroke.

Garcia ends two-year winning drought
Last week's victory marks Garcia's first European Tour title in more than two years. Having ended his winning drought, the Spaniard may be set for a comeback in Europe this season.
