In North America, the Templeton Shootout was won by Kenny Perry and Sean O'Hair. The victorious pair birdied five holes out of the final six on Sunday to lift the trophy together.
As the final round unfolded in the mild winter weather of Naples, Florida, Perry and O'Hair treated fans to a display of their combined golfing talents to finish a stroke ahead of Rory Sabbatini and Charles Howell. A charge for victory by the runner-up team had looked hopeful earlier in the round, but was no match for the champions' performance on the final stretch.
For Perry, who celebrated his 52nd birthday this year, Sunday's victory means more than just another trophy – it has ensured him a place in history. Perry is oldest player to have won the Templeton Shootout, having won the event previously in 2005 and 2008 respectively.
The European Tour's qualifying tournament took place just over a week ago in Girona, northern Spain. Victory went to England's John Parry, winner of the 2010 Vivendi Cup - the fourth Briton to win the qualifying tournament in as many years. Parry carded a two-under-par 70 in the final round to bring his total for the tournament to 409, or 19-under-par.
South Africa's Charl Schwartzel won his first tournament in almost two years when he sailed to victory at the Thailand Golf Championship on Sunday.
Carding an 11-stroke victory over former Masters Champion Bubba Watson, Schwartzel displayed his impeccable skill on the greens as he made eight birdies in the final round. The South African dropped only a single shot the entire week, maintaining his composure throughout the tournament as he reminded golf fans just how precise his playing style can be. Local favourite Thitiphun Chuayprakong was in third place, followed in fourth place by Spain's Sergio Garcia.
